Surf’s Up!
I am stoked with how well this has turned out. This is my favourite longboard, a Velzy 9’ 1” which took a heavy ding from a guy paddling out the wrong side of me, he flipped his board and ‘boom’, his fin sliced a generous chunk out of my rail.
Fast forward a few years and several layers of duct tape and I have a chat about repairing this board with Tom at Ding-Go Starr...
It was great to collaborate with Tom because we both shared a vision of how to repair the board; inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi and the aesthetic of wabi-sabi, embracing the beauty of imperfection and ultimately celebrating the board’s age and history.
