Shayne House is an artist based in Cornwall.

The ocean, beaches & coastal flora of Cornwall are the inspiration for his mixed-media & abstract fine art.

Shayne studied at Somerset College of Art, St Austell College and St Ives School of Painting.

Shayne’s current body of work creates a dialogue between two different mediums: overlaying the surface of his photographs with layers of paint and merging photographic reproduction with abstract materiality.

His photography is representative. His painting is abstract. These mediums are reconciled by applying corresponding or contrasting paint colours, obscuring areas of his photographs with his distinctive abstractions, resulting in the surfaces of the paint, and photographs no longer existing as separate entities.

By painting directly onto the photographs as an addition and obscuring feature, Shayne’s original photographs are recontextualised. Layers of intense colour create rich complexity and alter notions of time and narrative, capturing a mood, energy and drama within each piece.

Shayne’s original photographs, which he uses as a canvas, are commercially printed on Hahnemühle German Etching, a robust 310gsm fine art paper, by The Print Space London, a fine art printing service that is completely carbon neutral.

He paints with Placrylic, a sustainable plastic-free plant paint; an alternative to acrylic paint. Placrylic is 100% titanium-free, plastic-free, and marine friendly.

Shayne House museum-quality archival giclée limited edition prints are created using water-saving paper production methods on Hahnemühle Bamboo 290gsm fine art paper, made from 90% Bamboo fibres and 10% cotton.
