About

Shayne House trained in 35mm film photography & darkroom techniques at Cornwall College, typesetting and letterpress printing at Plymouth College of Art, and semi-abstracted brushwork at St Ives School of Painting. He brings a formally grounded yet wide-ranging sensibility to his studio practice, working freely across photography, filmmaking, printmaking, painting, music and more. A recent turn toward sign writing adds yet another hand-made discipline to the mix.

Commercially, as a Communication Designer, he has collaborated with the Eden Project, The Do Lectures, Unilever's Dove Self-Esteem Project, Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall, KEO Films and the BBC, RefuAid, StreetVet, and Transformation Food Banks, helping tell honest stories for mission-led organisations.

Early experience as a designer/maker for Jacques Cousteau's Paris-based La Spirotechnique, and later with surf brands including Balin Australia, Snugg Wetsuits, Gul, Bilbo Surfboards, alongside being a regular face at Newquay's iconic indie surf shop Revolver, drew him into a culture defined by its relationship with the ocean, and that pull has never really left. That connection to the ocean runs through his studio work, including "Handplane to Rivermouth," which screened at the inaugural London Surf Film Festival at Riverside Studios and in the National Trust's chillout tent at Boardmasters.

He created the artwork for Bryde's single 'Less' and, beyond visual art, he has performed and recorded with the founding members of the Imperfect Orchestra and various other musicians in the South West (UK), as well as with musicians in Immendstadt im Algau (Germany) and Saint-Renan (France).

He has exhibited in group shows in the UK, China and the Metaverse. His most recent photography collection, "Seasons Change," explores transitional moments in the natural world through cross-processed film and in-camera multiple exposures.

His current mixed-media work-in-progress explores the intersection of imagery and narrative through photography, typography, and painting, with a planned exhibition for Spring 2027.
