Picturing Lockdown

The British public were invited to contribute to a national collection of photographs; a “unique time capsule for the future”, which will show future generations what the Covid-19 lockdown was like for everyday people.

The project was launched by Historic England and encourages people to share images that reveal how they are dealing with lockdown, self-isolation and social distancing.

Selected images will be added to the Historic England archives for future generations.

I submitted the following image with accopmanying text, limited to 50 words.

My eldest daughter gave birth to her son at the very beginning of the UK lockdown. I was unable to visit them in the hospital, and several weeks on, I am still unable to meet them in person, hug my daughter or hold my grandson.
