Blue Mind

If you've ever felt more peaceful interacting with water, you've experienced Blue Mind.

Neuroscientists have shown that water reduces cortisol levels, the stress hormone.

It also slows our breathing and heart rate. Ultimately making us calmer.

My current series of photographs is inspired by the Blue Mind theory.

Blue Mind refers to the meditative state people fall into when in, on, or looking at water.

You enter what marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols calls the blue mind, a mildly meditative state of peacefulness and satisfaction.

“They are simply beautiful, and evoke everything it is that I love about the sea... it's feel, sight, sound and smell. Amazing that you can do that without someone having to actually go there.” ~ Anna Koska, Artist & Writer.
